Some of IBM's competitors think it's a good idea to spread a lot of Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt ("FUD") around the future of IBM CMOD. Here's ten answers to their "three reasons" list:
- IBM has been recognized as a leader in the ECM space by Gartner for as long as they've been producing their Magic Quadrants for Enterprise Content Management. The competitor that has resorted to disparaging CMOD isn't even on the list!
- OnDemand's compression is best-in-class. By offering built-in system wide de-duplication & advanced compression algorithms, IBM CMOD has saved customers billions of dollars in reduced storage costs over its 20+ year lifetime.
- IBM's CMOD on Cloud offerings allow organizations to leverage skilled IBM technicians and IBM's expansive cloud infrastructure to serve more users, at a lower price point than on-premise solutions.
- The Content Manager OnDemand User's Group ("ODUG") is a vibrant user community with a history going back almost as long as CMOD's been a product!
- ODUG's webinars & annual technical conference are regularly presented and attended by OnDemand's senior development and architecture teams to gather feedback and take questions from the Content Manager OnDemand customers.
- IBM has been offering free CMOD Workshops for the past 3 years, and has announced another round of workshops in cities around the world for 2018. Did I mention they're free?
- Despite outsourcing development of CMOD to UNICOM in January 2016, the development team has been expanded, and new features are regularly added to CMOD -- data encryption, active-active redundancy, plus S3, Hadoop HFS, Openstack Swift, and IBM Cloud Object Storage, LDAP Group syncing, document hashing for data security & reconciliation and more.
- Speaking of enhancements... IBM has been excellent at delivering on new features, functionality, and usability improvements to CMOD in FixPacks through co-operation with ODUG.
- And back to the topic of developers... the competition has lost some of their core developers who are now working on building solutions to migrate customers onto other ECM products. Ouch!
- There's a vibrant community of IBM Business Partners and consultants providing sales & services, plus developing 'bolt-on' products that enhance Content Manager OnDemand even further, adding data mining, workflow, and integration features.
And an extra one for good measure...
Since 2014, IBM has completed *25* migrations to CMOD away from the competitor's solution. If they had a better product -- wouldn't they be hosting webinars talking about their virtues? No wonder they're resorting to FUD in order to try and scare up new business.
